Greetings from the East - June 2017

Brethren:

Last Month (May 2017) we held a Very Special Event, "Celebrating the Craft". More then 24+ Members showed up for Good Food and Great Fellowship. "Thanks" goes out to Brother Leo Seidner and Family for a more than generous gift to our Language Center. The next Event at our Stated Meeting, ILL. Mert Gayler, 33º and his Family put on a Great Steak Fry and BBQ. The steaks were so big and tender you could have cut them with a butter knife.

This Month you do not want to miss our annual LUAU. This will be another fundraiser for the Language Center which will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2017 (note change to our Regular Meeting.)

There will be: Special Food, Entertainment (Leon Felburg on the keyboard), Opportunity Drawings, Silent Auction, Danc-ers, and a Very Special Talk given by our own ILL. Charles Ash, 33º on "American Revolution". Hawaiian Attire preferred.

Greetings from the East - March 2016

Brethren:

February 2016 was another action packed month for our Valley. We were treated to an-other great meal by Brother Hector Minon, 32º. After dinner the members and guests parted ways. The wives and guests stayed in the dining room and took part in an interactive presentation by our local Pampered Chef representative and Eastern Star member, Dawn Gummer. The members retired to the lodge room for a presentation of the 7th Degree "Provost and Judge" by our newly formed 7th Degree Team. After that was followed by our stated meeting.

In March we will holding The Ceremony of Remembrance and Renewal. This program is open to any-one who wishes to attend. Also in March the CLC Board will start having their meetings at 4:30 in the Lodge. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting.

Thank you,
Shane DaCosta, 32°

Greetings from the East - February 2016

Brethren:

The 2016 valley of Palm Springs Installa-tion of officers was a great success! There was over 40 guests who came out to see this outstanding line of officers be installed.

The evening started with a classic Masonic meal of steak and potatoes presented nicely by our Valley's own Hector Minon 32°. We then moved into the lodge room for our main event. Most Worshipful & Illustrious David C. Decker, 33° as Installing Officer, Illustrious Mark Gibson, 33° as Master of Ceremonies and Illustrious Charlie Ash, 33° as Installing Chaplain lead us through an excellent installation.

After having the gavel presented to me I had the opportunity to briefly introduce my plans for the year. This year will be a an-other year of Progress and Revitalization. After the success we had in 2015 and the completion of VMAP we have decided to participate again in 2016. With our Valley participating in VMAP we will have every opportunity to give our existing members the experience they originally joined Scottish Rite for and to build excitement to attract new members.

The first step in this process will take place at our February meet-ing as we will present the 7th degree prior to our stated meeting. We will have a separate program in the dining room for the ladies & guests.

I would like to thank my brothers from the Valley of Palm Springs for choosing me to lead the way again this year and as Venerable Master, I pledge to perform all my official duties to the best of my abilities and strive in knowledge, truth, charity, and brotherly love insuring that our Valley will always have honor and respect among the Craft that will last an eternity.

Thank you,
Shane DaCosta, 32°
Venerable Master

Greetings from the East - January 2016

Brethren:

November's meeting was another example of our dedication to The Craft and truly being the "University of Freemasonry". Prior to the Stated Meeting , Rudy Velasco, Mark Escobedo, Nick Seneca and Alan Franks all came together to put on a great 6th degree. We have now added three degree teams in 2015 which is an accomplishment to be proud of. Now that we are in January it is time to prepare for the 2016 Installation of Officers. We will have special guest, The Most Worshipful and Illustrious David C. Decker, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of California. Most Worshipful and Illustrious David C. Decker will serve as our Installing Officer. Hector Minon 32° has offered to prepare an exciting Installation Dinner. Be sure to RSVP by Monday, January 25.

As the year of 2015 has come and gone I am pleased to take a moment and reflect on our accomplishments. As a Valley we jumped head first into the Supreme Council's VMAP and succeeded! Our "smaller" Valley stepped up and tackled a project that some of the largest Valleys in the Country failed to complete. Together we did it! In October, we held our 3rd straight Feast of Tishri and were left in awe by our guest speaker the Most Worshipful and Illustrious R. Stephen Doan, 33°. To end the year as strong as we started, Jim Kay and the rest of the CLLC Board Members secured a permanent spot at the Palm Springs Village Fest.

All of the accomplishments we have achieved this year could not have been completed without the help of so many. I would like to personally thank everyone for their support.

Thank you,
Shane DaCosta, 32°
Venerable Master

Greetings from the East - December 2015

Brethren:

Thank you for joining us at our November meeting and welcoming our newest members. It was another great evening. It is always a pleasure to witness new Masters of the Royal Secret receive their cap and ring.

Our next meeting is on December 16 at 7:30 (Dinner 6:30). It will be the last meeting of 2015 and it is sure to be great, we plan to present the 6th Degree prior to the Stated Meeting. At this last meeting of the year we will try some-thing new. We will make this a dinner to remember please where something holiday festive or your favorite “ugly sweater”. Thanks in advance to everyone who will be participating.

Thank you,
Shane DaCosta, 32°
